How Alex de Minaur started tennis
Alex de Minaur's love for the game blossomed at the age of 3 in Kogarah Bay. His early years honing his skills at the Parkside Tennis Courts were pivotal in seeing him become the dynamic and electric player he is today.

That story sits at the heart of why Swisse Hot Shots Tennis starts so young. The program is for kids aged 3–10+, and the first stage, Blue, is built for ages 3–5+. At that age, tennis is play: running, jumping, throwing, catching and striking, with age-appropriate gear in a large, flat space.

Starting young, staying playful
Hot Shots is a kids' tennis program that uses scaled courts, lighter racquets and softer balls so children learn through play. It is designed for all ages and abilities. No experience is needed, and coaches guide kids through games that develop skills, social interaction and confidence.

The four stages give that early start a path:

Blue (3–5+): movement skills through fun, play-based activities.
Red (5–8+): rallying with softer, larger red balls and 19–23 inch racquets on scaled courts and nets.
Orange (8–10+): tactics in singles and doubles, teamwork and respect, with a 50 per cent compression orange ball.
Green (10+): play for fun, or more challenge and competition, with 25–27 inch racquets and a 75 per cent compression green ball on full or modified courts.

What parents can take from it
A love of tennis can start at 3. The useful part is the setting: the right space, the right ball, the right racquet, and games that make kids want to come back. Hot Shots is built so that first feeling — tennis made fun, just for kids — has a stage to grow through.
